The dead pedal in the 15 charger sags when you put your foot on it. Cmon chrysler, where your quality inspection @?

That's...unfortunate. But it sounds like something they should have dealt with long before inspecting. Starting to worry a little about the "new" Chrysler.

I re-glue my shoes. Not about the duct tape life, no matter how glamorous it seems.

Parking brake.. Ey?

Oh, right, okay.

I've only ever known and used this system.

Three pedals, accelerator, (foot) brake and clutch with the hand brake being closer to where my hand is.

Kinja'd!!!

Never driven an automatic and never used a hand brake/parking brake by my foot.

Seems alien to me.

Only ever driven manuals and never seen or used a parking brake by my foot.

Oddly enough, those rarely get used and get seized up, that's why there's the electronic ones nowadays. People just put the cars in Park, and the whole car rests on a ratchet-like device inside the transmission. cars that have manual as an option have the traditional lever.

My truck is a 5 speed and has a floor mounted ebrake. Its really weird having 4 pedals

I've seen the electronic one on a friend's Vauxhall Astra. Her husband is forever forgetting how to operate it, he flicks it thinking it's disengaged but you have to press the brake pedal or clutch (not sure which) pedal and then flick the little. Give me a proper lever any day.

Yep, that looks pretty weird alright.

How do you do hill starts without a handbrake?

I really swiftly ride the clutch. Its the only way.

That's what keeps me wary of automatics, the lack of clutch and hand brake control and I guess a floor mounted 'ebrake' would be about the same.

I can live without electric windows, cd player, sat nav, air con or remote central locking if I need to but give me a lever handbrake, a manual gearbox and three pedals and I'll be just fine.

My Dad's 88 was similar I think. Do you have a bench seat? I think that's why.

I think you need some winter floor mats. Your floor pan is going to be fucked.

my old wrangler had that setup. Doing parking brake slides in snowy lots is a real challenge.

ITT: People who have no idea what "quality inspection" does.

This would mayyyybe be a PQ issue (can't tell from the photo whether you're just resting your foot or actively trying to push the dead pedal in, which, uh, ok) but then again the last time I explained perceived quality to someone here re: blank switches, they bitched that engineers should be focused on REAL stuff. Yea, we'd love to, except people keep filling CR surveys with PQ complaints about this and "too much new car smell" and "too much dirt gets on the sides when I drive down dirt roads," I shit you not.

No offense, but I'm starting to think I just need to put together a Product Development 101. Even paid auto journalists seem to have no idea how the industry works.

I didnt know how all that works. Its a rental with a couple hundred miles on it. I wasnt pressing when i noticed it. I tend to put my foot there when i get in and out of cars, and it has lots if play.

I have a 2010. If you put some weight in it it flexes down. Gettjng in, stretching out, adjusting seated position. For actual use, it does nothing. It feels like a cardboard insert under it and it pops down to the body when pressed on. I drove a mazda with a hole under the pedal box area from my heel, so its still better than that.

and yes, I love it when the complaints come in that someone doesn't like it. Well what's wrong with it? I dont like it.It shouldn't be like that because I liked the way it was in my old car, from 10 years ago, and another company, pre-gender reassignment surgery, that my dad drove, over a puppy, three states away but he told me about when I was high. OK.....
